Ofonime Idiong (THEY/THEM)

Peace and salutations, and welcome to Ofonime’s little corner of the web. Ofonime is a non-binary artist, fashion designer and part-time substitute teacher, living, working and loving in the South-West Philadelphia area. Ofonime anchors their work and art the principles of liberation, community, and care.

Ofonime is a community Oracle, who offers an array of spirit based services to their community. Ofonimes ancestry includes other oracles like their grandfather and mother whom they learned many of their skills from. Ofonime is also a proud descendant of the Idiong linage, from the Annang Tribe in Calabar land, known for using their divination skills to protest against British Imperialism. Ofonime offers Guidance Readings, Ancestral Work, Past-Life Regression Sessions, Passed On Readings, and Dream Interpretations.

In their investment towards community and creating care networks. Ofonime has hosted and co-created community event with other community servants centered around finding more ways to generate resources and create more networks of care for their community. In 2020 Ofonime worked with Lumxn Magazine in Washington DC and NYC based therapist Gittou Noir to gift 1 community member a year of free therapy care. Summer 2021 Ofonime co-hosted Queer Self-defense classes for Queer Philadelphia community members, and in 2022 Ofonime was awarded a $7000 anti-violence grant by the city of Philadelphia to create a communal day of care for the community. The event had to pivot because of technical and weather difficulties, but the team was still able to host a communal BBQ and give free snacks and food away to families in the community as well as have a mental health provider available to offer social services if needed.

Along with community event Ofonime also hosts workshops at both the Conestoga community Center and a local Black owned Bookstore, “Healing while Black” Workshops include Political Literacy, Family and communal trauma healing, Birthing Support services, and skills based workshops.
